Florida man arrested for threatening to shoot President Obama

Posted September 15, 2018 05:10:12A Tallahasport man was arrested after threatening to blow up the White House if President Barack Obama didn’t release him from jail, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Tallahhasport.

Shawn Tompkins, 30, of Tallahasa, was arrested Friday after the arrest of another man in the area of 16th Street and East Paces Ferry Road, according a criminal report filed in the case.

The complaint says Tompkin, who was also charged with menacing and aggravated assault, is also wanted in connection with a Sept. 16 incident in which he allegedly confronted a driver and accused him of making “false statements.”

Tompkins has been held in the Florida Department of Corrections’ Florence Unit since Sept. 14 on a misdemeanor count of threatening to use violence against a public servant, the complaint said.

Tompkin is due back in court Sept. 26.

TrapWire was unable to reach Tompinks attorney, who could not be reached for comment.

A Tallansee police report says a man reported hearing a “pounding noise” from Tompins car before police responded to the home in the 7500 block of East Pades Ferry Road on Sept. 15.

Tampa police said the man was not hurt and police are still investigating the incident.
